Bar Styles

Light that survives a marquee at nine at night

100+ curated styles built for the way drinks actually photograph. Bright clean backdrops for welcome trays and daytime arrivals, where flat even light is the only thing that keeps a pale spritz from reading as tap water. Cool studio and marble surfaces for zero-proof menus, so a cucumber cooler stays fresh instead of grey. Warm dark timber and low-key glass for evening service, espresso martinis and smoked serves. Upload a photo shot on your phone in whatever light the venue gave you — a marquee at dusk, a lawn in hard midday sun, a function room lit by uplighters — and FoodShot corrects the colour cast that turns amber spirits khaki, brings the crema back to tan and stops clear ice reading as cloudy plastic. Every drink on your grid ends up looking like it was poured on the same table. See more drink examples on our cocktail photography page.

Builder Mode

Surface plus glass plus drink equals a portfolio

Pick a surface — reclaimed bar timber, white marble, brushed steel, dark slate. Choose a vessel — crystal coupe, heavy cut tumbler, tall collins, stemmed flute. Upload your drink photo. Builder Mode composites all three into one cohesive image, so the folding trestle legs, the blue crate of ice, the gaffer tape and the car park behind the marquee never make it into the frame. That is the whole problem with mobile bar photography: the drink is fine, the two metres around it are a loading bay. It is also why cocktail catering enquiries stall — a corporate client scrolling a grid of half-lit function-room snaps cannot picture the bar in their atrium. Same one-handed snap at set-up, different world behind it — and unlike a permanent bar or lounge with its own fixed lighting rig, you never shoot the same room twice.

My Styles

One house look across every event you quote

Upload a photo of your best-looking pour as a style reference. Every new drink you shoot — a couple's signature serve, a welcome tray on a lawn, a brand activation in an office atrium, a seasonal menu refresh — automatically matches that exact lighting, angle and mood. That consistency is what turns a camera roll into a bookable gallery: a planner scrolling your grid sees one operator with a house look, not fourteen different weddings shot on four phones in four kinds of bad light. It is also what lets you quote higher, because the proposal PDF you attach to an enquiry now reads like the work of someone who does forty events a season. If you also handle the food side, the same reference keeps your catering photos in step with the bar.

Perfect For

Every kind of bar that arrives on a trailer

From a solo bartender working two weddings a month out of the back of a van to a four-trailer operation running brand activations, if the bar gets built on site and taken away the same night, this is for you.

🚚

Horsebox and Trailer Bars

You spent three hours levelling the trailer, dressing the shelf and stringing the lights, and the only photo you got was at eleven at night with a phone flash. Shoot the build at set-up in daylight, restyle it later, and the exterior shot on your gallery finally looks like the bar you actually built.

🥂

Wedding Bar Specialists

Couples pick the bar whose signature cocktail looks best in the gallery, and they decide on a phone screen in about four seconds. One clean pour photographed before the ceremony gives you a hero image for the directory listing, the proposal deck and the grid.

🍾

Prosecco Vans and Fizz Bars

Sparkling drinks are the hardest thing to photograph badly-lit: bubbles vanish, pale gold goes grey and the flute disappears against the marquee lining. Backlit clean styles bring the bubble columns and the glassware edges back so a welcome tray reads as celebratory rather than flat.

🏢

Corporate and Brand Activation Bars

Agencies want to see a repeatable serve before they sign, and they want it to look identical every time. A consistent house style across every activation shot proves you can hold a spec at 400 drinks, which is the only thing the brief actually cares about.

🍺

Tap Trailers and Batch-Serve Bars

Kegs, spigots and dispensers photograph like equipment instead of drinks. Style the poured glass in the foreground and let the tap wall sit behind it, and a set-up built for throughput starts to look like a menu instead of a service hatch.

🌿

Freelance Bartending Crews

You work under someone else's brand half the season and your own the other half, so your camera roll is a scatter of jobs in wildly different light. One saved style pulls all of it into a single coherent portfolio you can send with a rate card.

No. FoodShot never sends a photographer, never runs an on-site or studio shoot, and never makes a drink for you. It restyles photos you take yourself. You build the real bar, pour the real cocktail, take a phone photo of it on your own counter, upload that photo, and FoodShot re-lights and re-stages that exact image — the same glass, the same ice, the same garnish, the same fill line. Nothing is invented and no drink is fabricated from scratch, which matters when a guest at a wedding compares the coupe in their hand to the picture that sold the package. What changes is the lighting, the surface underneath and the clutter behind, not the product. If a serve is not on your menu, it will not appear in your photos.

At set-up, before the first guest arrives. That is the single highest-leverage change most mobile bar operators can make. At set-up your ice is clear and freshly cut, your garnish is crisp instead of an hour into wilting, your glassware is polished, your counter is dry, and nobody is standing in the frame waiting for a drink. Build one of each signature serve, put it on a clean stretch of your own counter, and take three or four phone photos from different angles. That is ninety seconds of work and it is the entire shoot. Service light — a dark marquee, uplighters, a function room at ten at night — is what destroys drink photos, and FoodShot can fix a lot of it, but it cannot un-wilt a mint sprig or re-freeze a cloudy cube.

Yes, and it is the most common thing operators bring to us. A dark marquee gives you an orange-green colour cast from the lining and the uplighters, so amber spirits go khaki and clear drinks go muddy. Harsh midday sun on a lawn gives you blown highlights on the glass, a black hole inside the liquid and a hard-edged shadow across the counter. FoodShot replaces the lighting entirely rather than correcting it: the drink you photographed is re-lit as though it were on a studio table with controlled directional light, so bubbles, condensation, crema texture and ice facets come back. The limit is information — if a photo is so dark or so blown out that the garnish is not visible at all, no tool can recover what the sensor never recorded. Shoot in open shade at set-up and you will never hit that limit.

Yes. For a mobile bar business the build is half the sell, because the couple is buying a piece of furniture that will sit in the middle of their reception for six hours. Photograph the finished counter straight on from a few metres back once the shelf is dressed, the glassware is stacked and the lights are on, and FoodShot will style the surface, the ambient light and the background the same way it styles a single glass. The most useful set is one wide build shot, one three-quarter angle showing the depth of the counter, and two or three tight details — the garnish tray, the glassware stack, the dispenser row. Those four or five images carry a proposal PDF on their own.

Usually better, because zero-proof serves are built on fresh fruit, herbs and layered colour rather than a clear spirit, and they hold up to bright clean light in a way a brown drink does not. This matters commercially: a growing share of wedding and corporate enquiries now ask what the alcohol-free menu looks like before they ask about the spirits list, and a gallery with two sad glasses of cloudy lemonade in it loses that booking. Shoot your mocktails on the same clean surface, in the same light, with the same care you give a signature serve, and run them through the same saved style. A zero-proof section that looks like a designed menu instead of an afterthought is one of the cheapest upgrades to a proposal.

A fixed venue shoots in the same room every time, with lighting it controls and a back-bar it never has to rebuild, so it can hire a photographer once and use those images for two years. A mobile operation is the opposite: a different lawn, marquee, warehouse or atrium every weekend, no control of the light, and a bar that gets built and struck the same day. That is why a saved house style matters more to you than to a permanent site — it is the only thing that makes fourteen different venues look like one brand. If you also run a fixed site, the same style reference will keep your <a href="/use-cases/bars-lounges">bar and lounge</a> grid in step with the mobile one.
