For Online Food & Drink Stores

Ecommerce photo editing services price per image. A 200-SKU food catalogue needs different maths.

Outsourced editing is quoted per image, with a 24 to 48 hour queue. FoodShot restyles the phone photos you already took, so the whole catalogue gets one look in an evening.

What a Food Catalogue Actually Needs Edited

Seven edits a 40-to-200 SKU food catalogue needs that a generic retouching quote never itemises

Overhead grid of nine unlabelled food and drink products in three rows of three on seamless white

Catalogue-Wide Background Standardisation

Nine SKUs, one surface, one light, one grid

Row of six different cheese wedges graded from pale white to deep golden orange on a wide ceramic platter over pale oak

White Balance Across Shots Taken Months Apart

Six cheeses, six shoot days, one colour temperature

Overhead row of six open unlabelled jars of sauces in red, green, orange, yellow and dark brown on pale ash wood

Colour Truth: Never a Different Recipe

Six sauces whose real colour survives the edit

Two rows of four unlabelled juice bottles, four year-round colours behind four seasonal colours on a pale sweep

Seasonal Range Matched to the Core Catalogue

Four seasonal bottles that sit beside the core four

Overhead four-by-four grid of sixteen unlabelled jars, bottles, pouches and tins on dark stucco

Per-Image Cost vs Subscription Maths

Sixteen SKUs: the count that breaks per-image pricing

Six just-baked items including a sourdough loaf, seeded rolls, a brownie, a cinnamon bun and a fruit galette on a wide white platter at a warm bakery pass

Same-Day Turnaround Instead of 48 Hours

This morning's bake, listed before the afternoon

Catalogue Runs

Edit the whole catalogue yourself, not one invoice line at a time

100+ curated styles turn the phone photos you already took of your own products into clean, consistent catalogue images. Upload, pick a style, and a restyled shot lands in about ninety seconds — so a 40-SKU range is an evening, not a two-week queue. The work happens on your real photo of your real product. FoodShot never sends a photographer, never books a studio and never invents an SKU you do not sell.

Builder Mode

Set the surface, light and framing yourself when a SKU fights the template

Some products refuse a house style. A tall syrup bottle needs air above and below, a long salami needs the diagonal, and a near-black cold brew needs a pale background to hold its edge. Builder Mode lets you set surface, light direction and framing per shot, then hand the result back to the same catalogue look — so the awkward SKUs match the easy ones instead of getting their own mini shoot.

My Styles

One saved look for 200 SKUs, and the seasonal drop inherits it

Save the look once and every upload inherits it. That is the answer to a catalogue shot across two years in four rooms: the cheddar from March and the mulled cranberry juice from November come out on the same surface, under the same light, at the same size. When the seasonal range lands, apply the saved style to the new photos and the grid stays one grid.

Perfect For

Online food and drink stores whose catalogue outgrew per-image editing

If your editing invoice scales with your SKU count and every launch waits on a queue, this page is for you. Food and drink only: FoodShot does not restyle non-food catalogues.

🧀

Cheese and Charcuterie Merchants

Sixty wedges and twenty cured meats photographed as they arrived, on whatever bench was free. White balance is the whole battle here: a fresh curd must stay white while the washed rind stays orange.

🍯

Preserve, Syrup and Pantry Makers

Glass is glossy, and a phone photo of a jar carries the window and the ceiling in its reflection. One controlled highlight per jar, repeated across every flavour, is what makes a range look like a range.

🥐

Bakeries Selling Online for Delivery

Today's bake is today's listing. A 48-hour editing queue means the galette is sold out before its photo is ready, so same-day turnaround decides whether the item gets listed at all.

🫙

Sauce, Condiment and Spice Labels

Colour truth is not optional on a sauce. Push the red and the tomato basil becomes a different recipe, so returns follow. Neutral light and honest colour matter more than a dramatic edit.

🍫

Chocolatiers and Confectioners With Seasonal Drops

Four seasonal boxes land each year and each one has to sit beside the core range without looking like a different brand. A saved look means the new drop matches on day one.

🧃

Drinks Brands With Deep Flavour Ranges

Twelve flavours at three sizes is thirty-six listings that must read as one line. Per-image pricing turns that into a real invoice; a subscription turns it into an afternoon.

Outsourced editing is priced per image, and for simple food work the quotes usually land somewhere between roughly one and five dollars a shot, with clipping paths, shadow work and heavy retouching charged on top. Revisions are often billed separately after the first round. On a single hero that is nothing. On a catalogue it is the whole problem: 140 SKUs at three dollars is a four-figure bill, and that bill arrives again when you reshoot the range, again for the seasonal drop, and again every time a supplier changes a pack. Offshore houses are cheaper per image and slower per batch; local retouchers are faster to brief and cost several times more. Neither price scales with the way a food store actually works, which is a constant drip of new and re-photographed SKUs. A flat subscription changes the maths because the marginal cost of the hundred-and-forty-first image is zero. That is the honest case for the AI route on a catalogue, and it is a much weaker case on one flagship image.

All three genuinely win somewhere, so here is the straight version. Editing in-house on a desktop editor wins when you have real skill on staff and a small range: total control, no per-image cost, and nobody else touching your brand. It loses on time, because background work on a hundred jars after closing is a weekend you will not get back. An outsourced service wins on judgement calls and difficult work: complex clipping, composite scenes, packaging comps and anything needing a human eye on a client brief. It loses on cost at volume and on the 24 to 48 hour queue that blocks a launch. AI restyling wins on volume, speed and consistency: a whole catalogue in one evening, one saved look across every SKU, no per-image invoice. It loses when you need an art-directed campaign image or a genuinely tricky composite. Most food stores are better off using AI for the catalogue and a person for the two or three images that carry the brand.

This is the single most visible flaw in a founder-shot catalogue and it is rarely the camera's fault. Photos taken in January under a kitchen bulb come out warm and orange; the same products shot in June by a window come out cool and blue. Side by side in a collection grid, the two batches look like two different shops. Correcting each image by hand means eyedropping a neutral point in every shot and nudging temperature and tint until the set agrees, which is slow and drifts as your eye tires. Restyling solves it differently: instead of correcting each photo toward a guess, every photo is rebuilt on the same surface under the same light direction and the same colour temperature, so the batch agrees by construction. A cheese range is the hard test, because a fresh curd has to stay white while a washed rind stays orange. When that row reads correctly end to end, the rest of the catalogue will too.

It must not, and this is where a lot of food retouching goes wrong. Push the saturation on a tomato sauce and it reads as a different recipe; warm a sourdough crust and it looks over-baked; brighten a chocolate and the customer opens a darker bar than the one they bought. Those edits do not just cause returns, they are also the kind of thing consumer protection rules treat as misleading. The rule we hold to is that colour, fill level, portion and shape all stay true to the photo you uploaded, because the photo is of the actual product. What changes is the surface it sits on, the direction and quality of the light, the framing and the background. Gloss and steam are treated the same way: enhanced where they exist in the source, never invented on a dish that was never hot. If your source photo shows a dented tin, the output shows a clean, well-lit, still-dented tin. Shoot a good specimen.

No to all of it, and it is worth being exact. FoodShot never sends a photographer, never books or runs a studio, never prints a menu or a catalogue, and never fabricates a dish, a jar or a bottle. It is a restyling tool. You photograph your own product on your own phone, upload that photo, choose a style, and about ninety seconds later the same product comes back on a clean, consistent surface with proper light and catalogue-ready framing. The product in the output is the product in your photo, with its real shape, real fill level and real colour. It also only works on food and drink. If your store sells candles or tea towels alongside the coffee, those are outside what FoodShot does, and if you need an art-directed campaign shoot for a national launch, hire a photographer for that job. The tool is for the catalogue, not the campaign.

A single image takes about ninety seconds, which means the practical limit is how fast you can upload, not how long a queue is. That matters most to anyone selling perishables: if today's bake is listed today, a 48-hour editing turnaround is the reason an item never gets photographed at all. A 40-SKU range is comfortably an evening's work, and a seasonal drop of eight is a coffee break. On usage, commercial rights are included on paid plans, so the same images can run on your own store, on the marketplaces you sell through, in your ads, on a wholesale line sheet and in a retailer's own catalogue. Because every image comes from one saved style, a channel that demands a plain background and a channel that wants a lifestyle shot can both be fed from the same source photo without a second session, and the range still looks like one range wherever a customer meets it.
