DoorDash Fees for Restaurants on a $30 Order

DoorDash fees for restaurants come down to one number per plan: 15%, 25% or 30% of the subtotal on a delivered order, and 6% on pickup. The harder question is what a single ticket really costs once you add a promo, compare it with Uber Eats and Grubhub, and count the card processing one of them bills separately. So we ran the same $30 order through nine plans on all three platforms, using rates checked on each company's merchant pricing pages on October 5, 2026.
Quick Summary: DoorDash fees for restaurants on a $30 delivered order are $4.50 on Basic, $7.50 on Plus and $9 on Premier, with card processing included. Uber Eats now keeps $6 to $9 after its March 2026 increase, and Grubhub keeps $5.72 to $10.22 once its separate processing is added. A $5-off promo pushes every plan past 32%.
What Are DoorDash Fees for Restaurants in 2026?
DoorDash fees for restaurants are a commission on each order's subtotal: 15% on the Basic plan, 25% on Plus and 30% on Premier for delivered orders, and 6% for pickup on every plan. There are no activation, subscription or cancellation fees, and card processing is included for orders placed through the DoorDash marketplace.
Those rates come from DoorDash's merchant pricing page and cover restaurants with 75 or fewer US locations. The commission bundles listing, marketing, Dasher delivery, support and card processing services. Larger chains negotiate custom commissions. New partners start with a free trial at 0%: 7 days on Basic and 30 days on Plus or Premier.
| DoorDash plan | Delivery commission | Pickup | What the higher rate buys |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | 15% | 6% | Smallest delivery area, no DashPass |
| Plus | 25% | 6% | Expanded delivery area, DashPass customers |
| Premier | 30% | 6% | Largest delivery area, DashPass, automatic ads, Growth Guarantee, photoshoot credit |
Costs outside the commission
Four additional charges can show up on a DoorDash statement, all optional and all depending on what you switch on:
- Tablet rental: $6 a week in the US after the trial. Receiving tickets through a POS integration, email or fax is free.
- Promotions: you fund the customer discount (or the cost of free delivery, such as $4.99) plus a $0.99 marketing fee on each redeemed order, an amount DoorDash says may change. The commission is then taken from the subtotal after the discount.
- Sponsored Listings: ads with a budget you set, billed only when they produce a sale. Premier stores get automatic ads at no extra cost.
- Online Ordering: sales on your own website carry no commission, just 2.9% + $0.30 processing on the Boost and Pro packages, or 3.3% + $0.30 on Starter.
One $30 Order Through DoorDash, Uber Eats and Grubhub
Side by side, DoorDash fees for restaurants are the lowest at the entry tier. On a $30 order delivered by the platform's own drivers, you pay $4.50 to $9 on DoorDash, $6 to $9 on Uber Eats and $5.72 to $10.22 on Grubhub. Grubhub's low headline commission climbs once its delivery charges and separate card processing are added.
Ranking guides cover one of these third-party platforms at a time; here are all nine plans:
| Platform and plan | Commission + delivery | Card processing | You pay | You keep | Effective rate |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| DoorDash Basic | 15% = $4.50 | Included | $4.50 | $25.50 | 15% |
| DoorDash Plus | 25% = $7.50 | Included | $7.50 | $22.50 | 25% |
| DoorDash Premier | 30% = $9 | Included | $9 | $21 | 30% |
| Uber Eats Lite | 20% = $6 | Included | $6 | $24 | 20% |
| Uber Eats Plus | 25% = $7.50 | Included | $7.50 | $22.50 | 25% |
| Uber Eats Premium | 30% = $9 | Included | $9 | $21 | 30% |
| Grubhub Basic + Delivery | 5% + 10% = $4.50 | $1.22 | $5.72 | $24.28 | 19.1% |
| Grubhub Plus + Delivery | 15% + 10% = $7.50 | $1.22 | $8.72 | $21.28 | 29.1% |
| Grubhub All-access + Delivery | 20% + 10% = $9 | $1.22 | $10.22 | $19.78 | 34.1% |
On Uber Eats Plus, Uber One members are billed at 30%, so that $7.50 becomes $9 for those customers. And Grubhub's processing line is 3.05% + $0.30 on the $30 subtotal only; if your statement includes tax and tip, it runs slightly higher.
At the top tier, all three platforms land within $1.22 of each other. At the entry tier, DoorDash Basic undercuts Uber Eats Lite by $1.50 a ticket, exactly the March 2026 Uber Eats increase. Across 300 delivered tickets a month, that is $450 of revenue you keep.

Add a $5-off promo and the gap widens
A "spend $30, get $5 off" offer, the same example DoorDash uses in its merchant guide, moves every plan above 32% of the menu price. On DoorDash the commission is taken from the discounted $25, but you also pay the $0.99 marketing add-on. Per Uber's marketing FAQ, Uber Eats takes its cut from the pre-discount amount and adds nothing for the promo itself.
| Platform and plan | Discount | Platform fees | You pay | You keep | Effective rate |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| DoorDash Basic | $5 | $3.75 + $0.99 | $9.74 | $20.26 | 32.5% |
| DoorDash Plus | $5 | $6.25 + $0.99 | $12.24 | $17.76 | 40.8% |
| DoorDash Premier | $5 | $7.50 + $0.99 | $13.49 | $16.51 | 45% |
| Uber Eats Lite | $5 | $6 | $11 | $19 | 36.7% |
| Uber Eats Plus | $5 | $7.50 | $12.50 | $17.50 | 41.7% |
| Uber Eats Premium | $5 | $9 | $14 | $16 | 46.7% |
| Grubhub Basic + Delivery | $5 | $4.50 + $1.06 | $10.56 | $19.44 | 35.2% |
| Grubhub Plus + Delivery | $5 | $7.50 + $1.06 | $13.56 | $16.44 | 45.2% |
| Grubhub All-access + Delivery | $5 | $9 + $1.06 | $15.06 | $14.94 | 50.2% |
The Grubhub rows rest on one assumption we could not confirm: its public pages do not say whether commission is taken before or after a restaurant-funded discount, so we used the pricier pre-discount $30. Grubhub's monthly promo credit can cover that column until it runs out.
How the table was built
Every rate was checked on October 5, 2026: DoorDash fees for restaurants on DoorDash's merchant pages, plus Uber Eats' pricing page and Grubhub's pricing page. These are published US plan cards; cities with commission caps differ. Uber Eats, for example, lists New York City Lite at 15% delivery plus 3% card processing. Sales tax, tips, refunds and ingredient costs are left out.
Which DoorDash Plan Pays for Itself?
Plus pays for itself only if it brings about 23% more orders than Basic, and Premier, the top tier of DoorDash fees for restaurants, needs about 39% more. That assumes ingredients and packaging run 32% of your menu price. That only restores the same monthly profit; growth starts after.
After $9.60 of ingredient and packaging costs on a $30 ticket, Basic leaves $15.90 of contribution, Plus leaves $12.90 and Premier leaves $11.40. A restaurant doing 100 Basic orders a month earns $1,590 from them. To match that profit, Plus needs 124 orders and Premier needs 140.
What the higher tiers deliver:
- Plus adds an expanded delivery area and DashPass. DoorDash says DashPass customers order twice as often and spend 2.5 times more than non-members.
- Premier adds the largest delivery area, automatic ads, 35% off the Commerce Platform Pro package and a free photoshoot with a $200 credit. Its Growth Guarantee refunds your commission in any of your first six months on Premier with fewer than 20 orders, subject to uptime and cancellation rules.

Uber Eats Fees for Restaurants After the March 2026 Change
Uber Eats raised its entry plan on March 11, 2026: Lite moved from 15% to 20%, and pickup moved from 6% to 7%, or 10% without validated in-store pricing. Plus stays at 25% but bills Uber One member orders at 30%. Premium stays at 30%. Card processing is covered inside the Marketplace Fee.
Uber's help page on the change also raised existing custom delivery rates by 3%, up to a 30% cap. Lite stores cannot reach Uber One customers at all, while Premium adds a menu photo package Uber values at $250 or more. Grubhub Fees: Low Commission, Delivery Billed Separately
Grubhub's marketing commission is 5% on Basic, 15% on Plus and 20% on All-access, but that rate excludes delivery and processing. Grubhub Delivery starts at 10%, and its standard card processing is 3.05% + $0.30 on each order. Self-delivery skips the 10%, which is why Grubhub suits restaurants with their own drivers.
Every Grubhub plan includes a free professional menu photoshoot, an ad credit equal to your commission rate and up to $500 a month in promo credit to help win new customers. Those perks reduce the real cost, but only while you use them.

How to Reduce DoorDash Fees for Restaurants
The fastest way to reduce DoorDash fees for restaurants is to shift volume to cheaper order types: pickup at 6%, and Online Ordering on your own website at about 3.9% of a $30 ticket. Pricing, tablet and promotion choices come next; these additional steps often beat switching plans.
- Promote pickup. A $30 pickup ticket costs $1.80 on DoorDash, $2.10 on Uber Eats and $2.72 on Grubhub Basic. Keep pickup prices equal to in-store prices or you lose the low rate.
- Move regulars to Online Ordering. A bag insert with your web ordering link moves a regular from a $7.50 Plus delivery to a $1.17 direct pickup, and you keep control of the customer data.
- Price delivery separately. DoorDash lets you set different prices for delivery, and it says many restaurants do.
- Drop the tablet. A POS integration saves $312 a year for each location.
- Run promotions with a ceiling. Set a minimum subtotal and a maximum discount, and check the second table before launch. Our fall promotion ideas include the margin math.
- Chase bigger tickets. A fixed percentage hurts less on a $400 catering tray than on a $15 lunch. See how to win large orders on DoorDash.
Third-party delivery services work best as a discovery channel, with direct ordering holding on to repeat customers, so you control more of the revenue. A well-shot photo menu on your own site helps that hand-off. For the full playbook, read how to increase restaurant delivery sales and our cloud kitchen marketing tactics.
DoorDash Fees for Restaurants Are Fixed. Conversion Isn't
Once you pick a plan, the commission is set; what still moves is how many customers who open your listing actually buy. Item photos are the biggest lever there. DoorDash's own study of more than 15,000 local merchants in Q2 2022 found that menus with item photos get up to 44% more monthly sales.
That figure comes from DoorDash's menu photography guide, and DoorDash backs it with a free photoshoot: up to 20 menu item photos plus a store header shot, and you pay only for the dishes. Premier adds a $200 credit, or $200 after you upload 10 approved photos if no photographer serves your area.
The program has three gaps:
- Availability. Shoots depend on a photographer being free in your area.
- Exclusivity. DoorDash's photos cannot be used on other third-party delivery services, so you need a separate set that meets the Uber Eats photo requirements and Grubhub photo requirements.
- Timing. A shoot covers the menu you have that day. The seasonal special you add in November has no photo until you plan a menu photoshoot or book a photographer again, at the rates in our food photography cost guide.
That last gap is where menus quietly go blank, one of the delivery photo mistakes that costs the most. Shoot the real dish on your phone, then fix the light, background and plating surface with FoodShot, using the same delivery app photography rules. A photo takes about 2 minutes, exports at 2K (2048 px), and clears the 1400 x 800 px minimum in our DoorDash photo requirements guide. Keep the dish itself honest: DoorDash's photo rules bar evidently AI-generated or misleading images, and our breakdown of the AI edits the apps allow shows where the line sits.

Is DoorDash cheaper than Uber Eats for restaurants?
